Cider Competition

To help us celebrate our very first year, The Guernsey Cider Company, makers of Rocquette Cider, will be brewing a special edition traditional still cider for Sark Folk Festival 2010.

We need your help to create a name for the cider. We are looking for a name that reflects the culture and heritage of the Channel Islands and the essence of folk music.

The competition will close on April 12th. The winner will receive 2 weekend festival passes and a crate of Rocquette cider.

Hi All,

NEW WEBSITE - Yesterday saw the launch of our new-look website.  The re-designed site should now be easier to navigate and contains more information.  There are still a few updates to be made, so please bear with us if the site is unreachable at times.

ARTISTS - Plans for the festival are going very well.  We have already got 30 confirmed acts with a few more still in the pipeline.  These acts include a wealth of Channel Island talent, and an ever increasing list of visiting acts from the UK and France.  For details of our current line-up visit: http://www.sarkfolkfestival.com/2010/pages/artists.php

FOLKAL POINT - Many of you will probably be aware that our fund raising events are also going well.  On the 13th of February we will be holding another of our 'Folkal Point' evenings at the Fermain Tavern featuring local acts 'Folk on 2' (Sandy Lucas & Jan Trott), Whose Shoes, and The Space Pirates of Rocquaine... if the last Folkal Point was anything to go by then this will be a brilliant night of entertainment. For more details visit: http://www.sarkfolkfestival.com/2010/pages/pre-festival-events/folkal-point-13210.php

CEILIDH - We will also be hosting a Ceilidh at St Martins Community centre on the 6th of March.  This will be a great evening for the whole family, but space is limited.  Tickets can be booked through our website.

SPONSORSHIP - We are really excited to have added Rocquettes Cider to the list of organisations providing us with backing for this event. The Guernsey based cider company will be brewing a limited-edition traditional cider especially for the festival in July.  We will be running a competition to name the cider - details will be announced at Folkal Point on 13th Feb.

Mary Hampton

We're absolutely ecstatic to be able to confirm that Mary Hampton, fantastic musician and true Sark-lover, wil be playing at Sark Folk Festival 2010.

Mary is a Brighton-based singer/songwriter with a voice and talent like none other, and counts folk legend Eliza Carthy among one of her greatest fans.  HMV voted her album, My Mother's Children, number 17 in the best albums of 2008.
